Sorry for the absence of The Gushing Cinephile lately. Truth is, there hasn’t been much to report on. Now however, I’ve got more than enough to present you with. So, without further ado, here’s the brand new edition of The Gushing Cinephile!
First look:
Gone Girl
For those who don’t know, the bestseller “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn is well on its way to the big screen. Starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the lead roles, “Gone Girl” centres around a couple whose marriage is sinking, until Pike’s character goes missing on the couples anniversary. The film is directed by the illustrious David Fincher and is set for release on October 3, 2014.
The Imitation Game
A dramatic retelling of wartime cryptographer Alan Turing who cracked Nazi-Germany’s Enigma Code in World War 2. “The Imitation Game” stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role and is set for release sometime in 2014.
Exodus
The upcoming biblical epic “Exodus” directed by Ridley Scott and starring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, and Ben Kingsley gives us a brief look both on and behind the scenes. The film is set for release December 12, 2014.
Frank
This is the most important bit of news, at least for me anyway, in this edition of The Gushing Cinephile. “Frank” stars Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson, it just had its premiere at Sundance. This is one of my most anticipated films of 2014. Below, you’ll find the first ever footage from the film to be released. Check out the clip!
Poster:
I Origins
Having its premiere at Sundance mere days ago, “I Origins,” which reunites the lovely Brit Marling and Mike Cahill, unleashed a stunning poster. The film’s release date is unknown as of the moment. Marling and Cahill worked together previously on “Another Earth.” Also hearing that Fox Searchlight has picked up “I Origins” for distribution.
Home Video:
Gravity
Two of my favourites films of 2013 will be hitting home video in the coming months. First, Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity,” which is having no trouble at all so far this award season, will make its way to video players everywhere February 25, 2014. See artwork below.
The Fifth Estate
Another film I really admire from 2013, “The Fifth Estate” will be released on all platforms January 28, 2014.
Release Dates:
Enemy
Denis Villeneuve’s “Enemy” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Melanie Laurent, and Sarah Gadon will be hitting theatres March 14, 2014.
Under the Skin
Jonathan Glazer’s mysterious thriller “Under the Skin” starring Scarlett Johansson will be coming to a theatre near you April 4, 2014. You can check out our review of the film by clicking here.
Locke
Tom Hardy led thriller “Locke” will hit the silver screen April 25, 2014 after a brief appearance at Sundance.
The Green Inferno
Eli Roth’s homage to the cannibal genre “The Green Inferno” will be making you cringe September 4, 2014. Check out our review here.
Untitled Batman/Superman Film
Zack Snyder’s follow-up to “Man of Steel” starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavil has been pushed back to May 6, 2016.
Trailers:
Transcendence
Wally Pfsiter’s highly-anticipated directorial debut “Transcendence” has been anything but secretive. Showing a slew of pictures starring the film’s cast Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, and Cillian Murphy, in addition to three teaser trailers and a brief plot synopsis. Well, now you can catch the film’s first official trailer.
Clown
You all know me, I’m a horror fanatic! So, I felt compelled to share with you the first official trailer for Eli Roth-produced “Clown.” Sadly, it has been removed briefly, but I’m sure if you look hard enough, you’ll find it.
